Everything Was Fine Until....

Day 3 of Surgery, 11/10/2023.

So that day was our 1st bedside teaching session in 5th year, with Mr H. Initially, it was not my turn. So I didn't prepare any case except studying whatever related to AAA & vascular thingy.

But unfortunately, Mr was not interested in vascular case. So he asked everyone if we have any other case?

From the 1st person until me (I was the last one btw), nobody had. They clerked all uro cases, & another friend of mine who was supposed to present on the day had a case of abdominal pain but suddenly the pt was not on his bed (nowhere to be found).

And there was a clueless me....

Raised my hand & said;

"I have a case, I clerked this pt"

(the pt was there, a case of altered bowel habit)

But I was really..... unprepared.

At that time.

I felt like crying.

But I just gave it a try.

By only looking at my own clerking notes, I managed to present the history. Not much comment for that. I was grateful... at least I wasn't stucked at this point.

But later I need to examine the pt. It was a bit awkward for me, because I was not well-prepared for this. The general & abdominal parts were still bearable. Not until... Mr asked A LOT regarding per rectal examination in details (which I only did it once in my 3rd year). Including the anatomy, pathology, step-by-step for the procedure etc.

And at that time, I gave up.

At last, I couldn't get any marks for the suffers. When I asked again how much I could get (at least for me to improve myself & get the marks already regardless how much it will be), but Mr ended the session with "I will not give you pass."

*sigh

I thought like; "is it that bad?"

Felt sorry for myself, again. My resolution for this final year was to keep doing best, but then I realized; my best will never be enough.

It was a bedside teaching anyway, but felt like I was there alone. Roasted, felt like st*pid cause I couldn't answer most of the questions. Not blaming anyone cause they didn't know too, but pls...

Luckily, I learnt a lot. Mr was very helpful to correct all my mistakes, so I'll not repeat the same later on.

And it was just.... a beginning.

Sokay, promised myself that I'll do MUCH better next time. Hopefully.

"Whatever life throws at you, promise that you'll be better even if you need to fall first."

May Allah ease.
